India may have won the last four Border-Gavaskar Trophies, including two consecutive series wins in Australia, but they seem extremely vulnerable after a 3-0 thrashing at home against a weak New Zealand side. Especially on the batting front, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul are not in great form, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, or Shubman Gill don’t have much batting experience in Australia.
“I think that #TeamIndia could benefit if they have the services of #Tendulkar as the batting consultant in their prep for the #BGT2025. Enough time between now and the 2nd test. Roping in consultants is rather common these days. Worth a thought? #bcci,” Raman wrote on his X handle.
The Master Blaster has 15921 runs in Test cricket, out of which 1809 runs had come in Australia at an average of 53.20 with six centuries and seven half-centuries to go with it. Hence, former Indian batter WV Raman has suggested a left-field idea to the BCCI, urging them to onboard Sachin Tendulkar as a batting consultant in the tour.
One of the greatest batters of all time, Sachin weathered many storms in his career, having averaged 53.20 in Australia, 54.31 in England, 49.52 in New Zealand, 46.44 in South Africa, 67.94 in West Indies, and 47.69 in Sri Lanka. The way he navigated his technical weakness to score 241 against Australia in Sydney was still a masterclass in batting within limitations.
