Misfields, dropped catches, and some poor bowling, to a certain extent, was the theme of India's performance in the Women's Asia Cup T20 final in Dambulla on July 28 (Sunday). Not just this match, India have been below-par with their fielding throughout the tournament.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur admits that they were lackluster on the field and despite putting up 165 on the board, they ended up losing the match.
"We played good cricket throughout the tournament and no doubt, we made a lot of fumbles today and that cost us. It was a decent total, we were looking for breakthroughs in the powerplay but it didn't go according to plan and Sri Lanka batted really well," Harmanpreet said at the post-match presentation.
With the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh just a little over two months away, Harmanpreet says that they have plenty of areas to improve as they look to clinch their first title.
"We are looking to improve in some areas, we will definitely work hard and remember this day. They have played such good cricket from so much time and they played good cricket throughout this tournament," she said.
India have reached the final of the Asia Cup on nine occasions and have lost just twice. The last time they lost in the final was in 2018 when Bangladesh pipped them by three wickets in Kuala Lumpur.
