Hardik Pandya sent for scans after twisting left ankle

Hardik Pandya won’t bowl any further in the clash against Bangladesh in Pune

One of India’s key all-rounders, Hardik Pandya, hurt his left ankle while bowling in the 17th Match of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. The incident happened in the ninth over of the Bangladesh innings in Pune when the all-rounder tried to stop the ball in the follow-through with his leg.

Immediately, the Indian medical staff walked out to tend to Pandya, who tried to complete his over. However, the pain was such that the all-rounder had to walk off the field, with Virat Kohli completing the over.

"Hardik Pandya's injury is being assessed at the moment and he is being taken for scans," read BCCI’s release in the aftermath of the incident.

Shardul Thakur is likely to play a bigger role in the clash against Bangladesh, with the Mumbaikar having bowled only eight overs in the competition thus far. The host broadcaster - Star Sports - confirmed that Pandya won’t be available to bowl for the rest of the Bangladesh innings.
