Even though Big Bash League is struggling to attract top-level talents to its folder for a long time, Cricket Australia have reasons to rejoice as some of the biggest players on the T20 circuit have registered for the upcoming draft. The likes of Rilee Rossouw, Alex Hales, and Nicholas Pooran, and Faf du Plessis will be up for grabs on the September 3 draft set to take place in Sydney.
Currently, Sydney Thunder have both Rossouw and Hales in their roster and both will be available as retention pick options. Pooran does not qualify for retention and is likely to capture the attention of multiple clubs.
Faf du Plessis scored an impressive 177 runs in his eight matches for Perth Scorchers in the BBL|12 season and will be a very exciting option as a retention pick despite his underperformance in Major League Cricket.
“We are extremely excited about the return of the BBL Overseas Player Draft. The BBL has always been a stage for cricketing excellence, and the first round of this year’s BBL Overseas Player Draft nominations once again underscores the League’s international appeal.
“The influx of these top batters is a testament to the BBL’s standing in the global cricket community, and fans can look forward to another summer of big hits and high scores.”
The BBL Overseas Player Draft will take place on September 3.
