Weather conditions

Unfortunately, there is a good chance that this contest could be interrupted by rain. Showers and thunderstorms are predicted early in the day. According to Accuweather, there is more than a 60% chance of rain in Barbados during the game time - 10.30 AM local time. Otherwise, it’s expected to be really cloudy as well.

Players to watch out for

Phil Salt: England’s highest run scorer in T20Is since 2023, Salt is one of the most enterprising batters in this clash. He averages 50.2 since 2023 at a strike rate of 169.9. The right-handed opening batter also smashed 435 runs in IPL 2024 - 39.6 average, 182 strike rate. Given Barbados has been one of the better batting venues in the Caribbean, Salt has good chance to pile on his great batting numbers of late.

Adil Rashid: You can never count out Adil Rashid when England are playing white-ball cricket. He has 17 wickets for England in T20Is (next best has nine wickets) at an economy of 7.2. A leg-spinner is always a handy bowler against Associate batters as they don’t pick googlies as well.

George Munsey: The veteran opener, George Munsey will be the key to Scotland’s fight. Not only he is the highest run-scorer for Scotland since last year, he also has the highest average (40.4) and the third-highest strike rate (151).

Key Battles

Currie vs Buttler

Bradley Currie has been prolific for Scotland in the powerplay. A left-arm seamer, he has picked 14 of his 19 T20I wickets since 2023 in the first six overs. He will have Jos Buttler on his radar, England’s talismanic batter and their captain. Buttler hasn’t played much T20Is since 2023. But on the basis on the low sample size, Buttler hasn’t been dismissed by a left-arm seamer these 13 matches. However, he has a strike rate of only 121 against left-arm seamer, his lowest against any bowling type.

Thus, Currie vs Buttler could be crucial for Scotland’s fortunes in this contest.
