England players could miss the start of New Zealand series due to WPL

The ECB have informed the players that they won’t be considered for selection for the first three of five T20Is if they decide to play the entire WPL

With the 2024 Women's Premier League ending on March 17, some of the England players will have to miss the start of the five-match T20I series in New Zealand if they stay in India until the end of the franchise-based tournament.

The New Zealand series will get underway on March 19 in Dunedin.

Meanwhile, the BCCI recently announced that the 2024 WPL final will be played in Delhi on March 17 and it would be impossible for the player to fly to New Zealand and make themselves available for the opening game of the series.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the ECB have informed the players that they won’t be considered for selection for the first three T20Is if they decide to play the entire WPL.

Alice Capsey (Delhi Capitals), Issy Wong, Nat Sciver-Brunt (both Mumbai Indians), Kate Cross, Heather Knight (both Royal Challengers Bangalore), Sophie Ecclestone and Danni Wyatt (UP Warriorz) are the players who are going to feature in the WPL, which will start from February 23.

England head coach Jon Lewis is also the coach of UP Warriorz. England seamer Lauren Bell has already withdrawn from the WPL to prepare for the New Zealand tour.
