After Liton Das was ruled out from the Asia Cup with extreme fever, Bangladesh have suffered another blow in the form of Ebadot Hossain, who will now not be available for the World Cup either. Recently, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors have picked Tanzim Hasan as a replacement for the Asia Cup, with the hope that Ebadot will be fit for the World Cup, but that was not to be.
"Ebadot will not be available for us in the World Cup," BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.
"It's a big blow for us as he will require an operation for his knee. Following the operation, he will certainly take some time for rehabilitation purposes, at least three to four months, so we cannot consider him for the World Cup," he said.
Since making his debut in August 2022, Ebadot has been very impressive, which made it apparent that BCB were doing their best to make him fit for the World Cup. He was replaced by Tanzim Hasan, who picked nine wickets from three matches in the ACC Emerging Men's Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
"It is very sad that Ebadot is not with us because he was an important part of our team, and taking that into consideration, it is quite disappointing," Shakib had told reporters in Dhaka
