In what comes as a big change in women’s domestic cricket, Indian allrounder Deepti Sharma has changed states.
Sharma, a key member of the Bengal women’s setup, has left the side she was a part of since 2017. The President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Snehasish Ganguly, was quoted by Sportstar on the issue.
“Deepti has got a job with Uttar Pradesh police and that’s why she wanted to shift here. We have already issued her an NOC,” Ganguly said.
It’s worth mentioning here that Sharma is a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police. She hails from Agra, and had begun her domestic career playing for the UP Women in the 2015-16, and 2016-17 domestic seasons. After that, she was convinced by Indian legend Jhulan Goswami and others in the Bengal women's setup to move to Bengal in domestic cricket.
Sharma, who also plays for the UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) featured prominently in the Bengal side, and has been a mainstay of the side ever since she joined it. CAB president hasn’t announced any replacement for her on the side as of now.
Sharma has played 89 ODIs, 117 T20Is and five Test matches for India.
