Pakistan paceman Shahnawaz Dahani has been ruled out of Sunday's Asia Cup encounter against India due to a suspected side strain, Pakistan Cricket Board said on Saturday (September 3). He sustained the injury while bowling in the match against Hong Kong in Sharjah on Friday.
“As in the case with any suspected side strain injury, the medical team will monitor him for the next 48-72 hours, following which they will make decisions, including carrying out a scan and further participation in the tournament,” said the press release.
Pakistan are already without Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim. One of Mohammad Hasnain or Hasan Ali will replace Dahani against India. In the first two encounters, the 24-year-old picked up one wicket and also played a decent cameo of 16 against India.
Pakistan lost to their arch-rivals India in their first match but managed to hammer Hong Kong to qualify for the Super Four.
