In a landmark move, the Bangladesh Premier League franchise, Chattogram Challengers have signed former India U-19 World-Cup winning captain, Unmukt Chand. Earlier in the year, the right-hander had expressed his interest to ply his trade in the league, and was also seen playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.
Chand becomes the first Indian cricketer to play in the BPL, with the 29-year-old being picked in the player’s draft for the 2023 edition, on Wednesday. Last week, the right-hander had put his name forth for the player's draft, and even credited the league, calling it quite exciting. Chand now becomes the only Indian cricketer to play in both the BBL and the BPL. The former Indian U-19 star is part of the United States of America (USA) setup.
The Challengers have also signed exciting talents like Max O’Dowd, Curtis Campher, Vishwa Fernando and Ashan Priyanjan to their setup. Last season, the Challengers finished third, with five wins in their 10 games but a loss against Comilla Victorians knocked them out of the competition.
