Royal Challengers Bangalore have appointed Andy Flower as the head coach of the franchise for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, with Mike Hesson, Sanjay Bangar, and the other coaching staff taking an exit from the Diageo-owned franchise. Flower coached Lucknow Super Giants to the semi-final in the 2023 season, but the team recently replaced him with Justin Langer recently.
"I recognise the work put in by Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar, who are two coaches I respect. I'm particularly excited to be reunited with Faf. We have worked very well together in the past I look forward to forging our partnership and relationship into something bigger and better," Flower said in a statement shared by RCB.

Flower, one of the most successful coaches on the T20 circuit, joined Lucknow Super Giants in their first season in the league in 2022, and under his tutelage, the KL Rahul-led side made back-to-back playoffs in their first two years in the IPL. However, things didn't transpire well after that and he was replaced by former Australia coach Justin Langer. Flower, who was with Punjab Kings earlier, was also in talks with Rajasthan Royals for the next season, but RCB snapped up his services.
It is not yet sure if the contracts of the other coaching staff, Adam Griffiths, Sridharan Sriram, and Malolan Rangarajan, will be renewed or if Flower will be given the free hands to bring his own support staff.ย
