Andre Adams has been named New Zealand's bowling coach for the upcoming T20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan, the NZC confirmed in a media release on Wednesday (January 10). he will link up with head coach Gary Stead and Luke Ronchi, who is the batting coach of the side.
Adams, who has played one Test 42 ODIs and four T20Is for the Blackcaps, is expected to fill in for Shane Jurgensen, who vacated the post after the recent ODI World Cup in India
The decision to include Adams comes after his successful stints with the White Ferns for their tour of South Africa in 2023. Adams will link up with the squad on Wednesday ahead of the five-match T20I series against Pakistan, starting Friday (January 12) at Eden Park.
The former New Zealand pacer has previously worked with New South Wales in Australia, the Sydney Sixes in BBL and also the Auckland side. He was an active cricketer until 2015, with stints in England turning up for Nottinghamshire, Hampshire and Essex.
The T20I series will act as a build-up for the T20 World Cup which is slated to be played in the US and West Indies from June 1 onwards. Pakistan will go into the series following their Test tour of Australia which they lost 3-0. This series will mark Shaheen Afridi's stint as full-time captain, following Babar Azam's resignation.
