Ahmedabad to host all three ODIs between India, New Zealand women

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the fixtures for the upcoming three-match ODI series between the senior women's teams of India and New Zealand. 

All three ODIs will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and will begin at 1:30 PM IST. The first ODI begins on October 24, the second on October 27, and the third on October 29. 

Both teams are currently participating in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. New Zealand also defeated India by a huge margin of 58 runs in their first Group A game. 

That has ensured that despite two victories (one of them by 58 runs) and a close defeat in their last group game against Australia, India’s qualification for the semifinals is not in their own hands. They need Pakistan to beat New Zealand in the last game of Group A. 

Meanwhile, the upcoming ODI series in Ahmedabad is part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, and India has played the fewest ODIs (12) amongst the teams so far. However, since they are the hosts of the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2025, they are already qualified, and their performances or points won’t have any bearing on the qualification. 

Meanwhile, New Zealand has won only eight out of the 18 ODIs it has played this cycle and is currently placed sixth among the 10 teams. 

It’s worth noting that this series will start only three days after the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup, which ends on October 20.
