Afghanistan to play one-off Test against New Zealand in Noida

This will be Afghanistan’s third Test in 2024 - the most they have played in a calendar year

Afghanistan will play a one-off Test against New Zealand in Greater Noida, India, in September. This will be Afghanistan’s 10th Test and first against the Black Caps.

This will be Afghanistan’s third Test in 2024 - the most they have played in a calendar year. They lost to Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in Colombo in February and then went down to Ireland by six wickets in Abu Dhabi.

Overall, Afghanistan have three wins and six losses in red-ball cricket. They have won only one of their last six Tests.

Afghanistan will return to the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, which was previously their adopted home ground.

The Test will mostly be played from September 9 to 13, almost a month before New Zealand's three-Test tour of India. The Black Caps will play their first Test against India in Bengaluru from October 16.

In between, New Zealand are also supposed to travel to Sri Lanka for a Test series but the exact dates haven’t been announced yet.
