Former Indian batter Ajay Jadeja will be mentoring Afghanistan in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India, with the side taking on Sri Lanka in the quarter-final encounter on Wednesday. Jadeja, who has played 15 Test matches for India, has been involved in post-career media works for a while but now will be assisting a team for the first time since his first-class retirement in 2013.
One of the most prolific run-scorers of the era, Jadeja has featured in 196 ODIs, amassing 5359 runs at 37.47 with six hundreds and 30 fifties in the format. His experience in the media will help him have a definitive understanding of the landscape and he could bring his cricketing experience to lead the Afghan pack in India.
Afghanistan will take on Asian rivals in their first game in Dharamsala under the leadership of Hashmatullah Shahidi.
