5 highlights from India's series sealing victory against South Africa

Missed the game where four centuries were scored in a women's ODI for the first time? Worry not. We have got you covered

Proteas power keeps India subdued

The pitch had ample green cover, and the South African pacers Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, and Nadine de Klerk bowled accurate lines and lengths. India could score only 75/1 in the first 20 overs, and only after that did their innings attain pace.

Mandhana and Kaur’s twin centuries

When Dayalan Hemalatha (24 off 41) departed, India were 100/2 in 23 overs. Post that, Harmanpreet Kaur (103 off 88) and Smriti Mandhana (136 off 120) combined to not only raise India’s scoring rate but also notch up 171 runs together — their second-highest partnership.

Kaur and Richa’s fantastic finishing

India scored 118 runs in the last 10 overs as Harmanpreet and Richa Ghosh (25 off 13) accelerated at a high pace, easily scoring boundaries. Harmanpreet also brought up her sixth ODI hundred as India reached 325/3 — their highest ODI total.

Wolvaardt and Kapp’s spectacular show

India reduced South Africa to 67/3 in the 15th when Marizanne Kapp joined skipper Laura Wolvaardt. Both batted without taking any big risk and scored at a high rate as they notched up an 184-run partnership in just 28.2 overs. Ultimately, the total proved to be four runs too big for them.

646 runs, Four centuries

After the first 20 overs of India’s innings, the pitch at Chinnaswamy became a batting paradise as both teams combined to score 646 runs — the second-highest match aggregate in Women's ODIs.
