5 highlights from Indian Women’s team's triumph over Pakistan

Missed India’s one-sided seven-wicket victory? Worry not. This recap has got you covered

Pooja Vastrakar’s ‘short brilliance’

Dambulla is not known for short-pitch bowling, but Vastrakar (2/31) beat Pakistani openers - Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali - with her pace and bounce and jolted Nida Dar’s team early.

Shreyanka and Deepti’s spin web

Off-spinners Shreyanka Patil (2/14) and Deepti Sharma (3/20) bowled with a lot of accuracy and enticed the already-strangled Pakistani batters into their trap. Patil, especially, was brilliant in her use of the windy conditions to drift the ball away from the right-handers and combined with Deepti to shatter the middle order.

Tuba and Fatima’s late fight back

Sidra Ameen (25 off 35) was the only top-order batter to show a bit of fight, and it was Tuba Hassan (22 off 19) and Fatima Sana (22 off 16) who struck some big shots at the end to help Pakistan to 108.

The Smriti and Shafali show

India began their chase on a high, scoring 57 runs in the powerplay. Both Smriti Mandhana (45 off 31) and Shafali Verma (40 off 29) batted with zero discomfort as Pakistani bowlers gifted them a lot of hit-me deliveries.

Aroob Shah’s futile fight back

Leggie Aroob Shah (2/9) bowled with a lot of control and dismissed both the Indian openers when they were looking to finish the chase in style. However, it was too late to come and the Indian team sailed home with seven wickets in hand.
