Kieron Pollard, the skipper of the New York Strikers says that they have got together well. Adds that the guys got a feel of the conditions and worked well for them. Shares that in the short form cricket, a couple of overs can bring them back into the match. Mentions that everyone is here to win and they try to give them the best environment and confidence to execute and perform well. Closes by saying that they want to get a couple of wins and hope to qualify further.
Chamika Karunaratne is the Player of the Match for his fine spell. He says the second wicket was special for him. Adds that he is working hard in the nets and it paid off today. Shares that they just bowled to the field and the team fought back well in the first innings.
Earlier in the game, the Bangla Tigers posted a below-par 101 in their allotted overs. The Tigers got off to a fine start in the initial overs courtesy of Jordan Cox and Kusal Mendis but a flurry of wickets at the backend did not allow them to finish on a high. Chamika Karunaratne was the pick of the bowlers with three-fer while Muhammad Jawadullah was among the wickets too. Mohammad Amir and Akeal Hosein bowled economical spells. An all-around effort by the New York Strikers hands them a comfortable win.
Not a lot to talk about the Tigers' bowling. They have a below-par score to defend and the bowlers failed to turn up today. Benny Howell and Daniel Sams got a wicket each but most of the bowlers had an off day. They will hope to regroup and come back better in the next game.
A thumping win for the New York Strikers who have beaten the Bangla Tigers by 8 wickets and with more than two overs to spare. Chasing 102 for the win, the Strikers lost Gurbaz early but Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera added 58 for the second wicket and got the game in their favor. Waseem departed for a well-made 40 but Kusal Perera stayed till the end and got the job done. The New York Strikers are off the mark in this tournament after losing their first game and get the two points.
