That is all from this game. But Big Bash action has just begun. Head over to the other match where an exciting Sydney Derby is underway.
JHYE RICHARDSON HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He set the tone early, striking twice in the Powerplay and then came back to nip the Handscomb-Short stand in the bud. He has now taken 25 wickets in the tournament.
Excellent bowling from the Scorchers. They sized up the pitch to perfection and did not allow the Hurricanes to get away at all. Jhye Richardson was the pick, with 4 wickets while the others did reasonably well. Skipper Ashton Turner was perhaps looking for bowling options, given that Mitchell Marsh is not going to bowl and kept experimenting. Did not go too badly.
Comfortable win for the Scorchers. Never looked troubled at any point during the chase. The Hurricanes struggled to form partnerships and just kept losing wickets. D'Arcy Short was not sure whether to go hard or play carefully and eventually was in no man's land. Peter Handscomb tried to inject some momentum into the innings but once he fell, it was game over. Towards the end, Will Jacks and Tim David had some personal fun.

Jhye Richardson to Tim David ,OUT! CAUGHT! The new bat does nothing for David. A high full toss, outside off, Dvid swings hard and looks to go over cover. But he is not quite able to clear the ropes. Colin Munro takes it calmy near the ropes. But David is not too happy. He complains about the waist-high no ball and the umpires refer it upstairs. The first replay suggests that it was a dipping full toss and beneath the waist. David's entertaining innings is done.
Caught! But is that a no ball? David is going nowhere. He believes it was a waist-high full toss. The umpires are referring this upstairs. Nope. As per the replays, this looks fine. The ball is dipping onto the batsman. Yes, up goes the finger.
Change of bats for Tim David. Seems like he has damaged it. Let's see whether the new willow works for him.
