Right then, it is a day that has been tremendous for Sydney - earlier, the Sixers beat Renegades, albeit by just 2 wickets. While now, the Thunder have had a much bigger margin of victory, over the Stars. The action in the BBL though continues, with Hobart taking on Brisbane, on Wednesday, 30th December 2020, at 0615 Local (0815 GMT). We hope to have your company for that, until then, take care and good bye.
Alex Hales is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that the new Powerplay rules are different. Believes it is a different challenge. On him targeting the leg side, Alex says 'Definitely'. Adds that he was looking to play more on the leg side in this game. States that it is nice to have Sam (Billings) back in the team and feels his inclusion in the team is huge. Feels that Thunder have also got lower-order hitters. Looks forward to playing in warmer climes (Gold Coast) next.
Earlier in the evening Maxwell's decision to bowl first backfired. On the back of a 29-ball 71 from Alex Hales and 33-ball 51 from skiper, Callum Ferguson, Sydney Thunder posted a massive total of 219. A total which was to massive for the Stars to chase. Adam Zampa picked up 3 wickets but was very expensive.
A very good bowling performance from the Sydney Thunder. The bowlers came out with a plan and stuck to it. They had the runs to play with which also heled their cause. Chris Green was the star of the show finishing with 4/34 in his 4. Sangha impressed again and finished with 2/17. Tremain and Sams finished with 2 and 1 wicket respectively. Overall it was a very disciplined bowling performance from the Thunder.
Chasing 220 was always going to be a massive ask irrespective of how good the pitch is. The Stars needed someone to lead from the front but that never happened. They could not get any partnership going and lost wickets regularly. A few batters got start but the pressure of run rate meant they did not have the time to settle in. All-in-all a miserable day for the Stars.
A comprehensive victory for the Sydney Thunder. They have outplayed, outclassed and out muscled the mighty Melbourne Stars. A humiliating loss for Maxwell and co. They succumb to back-to-back losses against the two Sydney sides.

Chris Tremain to Adam Zampa ,OUT! CAUGHT! SYDNEY THUNDER WIN BY 75 RUNS! It has been a dominating performance from them. Short ball, Zampa goes for the pull shot but gets another top edge. This time though, it does not go to the fence. Finds Green at mid on, who backpedals, and takes it. THIS IS STARS' WORST DEFEAT IN THE BBL!

Chris Tremain to Adam Zampa ,FOUR! Top edge there. Shortish and outside off, Adam swings across the line but ends up getting a top edge there. It goes over the head of the keeper and down to the long stop boundary.
The last man in is Zahir Khan.

Chris Tremain to Billy Stanlake ,OUT! RUN OUT! Billy Stanlake has to go now. Oh Billy! Why Billy? He wanted to give Zampa the strike. Fullish length ball around off, Billy pushes it down to mid off. Zampa says no to the single but Billy says yes and takes off. Zampa then takes off from the bowler's end. The mid off fielder collects and throws it to Tremain, who collects and whips the bails off. An easy run out.

Daniel Sams to Adam Zampa ,DROPPED! Oh my word, that is the skipper dropping an absolute soda. Fullish and around off, Adam backs away and strokes it uppishly. Callum, at cover, dives to his left. It was still a simple catch and he ends up spilling it. It goes to the deep for a single.
