Adam Zampa to Baxter Holt, OUT! CAUGHT AGAIN. Two in two for Zampa. Full and outside off, Holt looks to play the slog sweep but only gets a top edge. Simple catch for Liam Hatcher at short third man.

Adam Zampa to Nathan McAndrew, OUT! CAUGHT. Full and outside off, McAndrew gets down to play the slog sweep but gets a top edge. Ben Dunk calls for it, the keeper, runs towards mid-wicket and takes it.

Hilton Cartwright to Chris Green, OUT! CAUGHT! Second wicket for Cartwright in the over. Full toss, outside off, Green looks to go big over long off, but can only find the substitute Tom O'Connell at the ropes.

Hilton Cartwright to Nathan McAndrew, OUT! c sub Tom O'Connell b Hilton Cartwright.

Hilton Cartwright to Alex Ross, OUT! CAUGHT! Ross departs and one will believe that is the final nail in the coffin. A slower ball, outside off, Ross looks to slog but he get nothing on this. Or, nothing much. Mistimes it to deep mid-wicket where Clint Hinchliffe completes the formalities.

Billy Stanlake to Alex Ross, FOUR! Fine shot! Full and outside off, Ross hammers this between extra cover and mid off! 38 more needed from 15 balls.

Billy Stanlake to Alex Ross, SIX! AUDACIOUS! A short ball, outside off, Ross slaps it over point!

Liam Hatcher to Daniel Sams, OUT! CAUGHT! Two in two and Hatcher is on a hat-trick! Full and outside off, Sams looks to go over cover but cannot quite clear the Hulk. Marcus Stoinis, initially jumps, stick up his hand, stops the ball, parries it in the air and then dives to take it in the second attempt!

Liam Hatcher to Ben Cutting, OUT! CAUGHT! Surely Stars would not have dropped three in three! Full and around off, Cutting swings this towards mid on. There is barely any timing on this and substitute Tom O'Connell at mid on takes it nicely.

Liam Hatcher to Callum Ferguson, OUT! CAUGHT! Ferguson departs. Massive, massive blow and the Stars are well on top now. A length ball, outside off, Callum backs away and then aims to go over cover. But he is fooled by the slower one and mistimes it. Andre Fletcher, the 'Spiceman' takes it calmly at the ropes. So Ferguson departs and now, we have basically two new batsmen in the middle. 55 more needed from 31 balls.

Liam Hatcher to Callum Ferguson, FOUR! Off the edge! That will help the Thunder. Terrific delivery, a yorker, outside off, Ferguson backing away, is far from the ball but somehow manages to get his bat down in time. The ball takes the outside edge and scoots away to the third man fence.

13.5
Hilton Cartwright to Callum Ferguson, SIX! The yorker is missed and Cartwright is punished! A slower ball, just short of yorker, outside off, lands on the fuller length and Ferguson jumps out, takes it on the half volley and lofts it cleanly over extra cover.

Clint Hinchliffe to Callum Ferguson, FOUR! Short and outside off, Ferguson rocks back and cuts it behind point.

Clint Hinchliffe to Alex Hales, OUT! CAUGHT! Hinchliffe gets the big wicket of Hales! The sight of a left-arm spinner always is tempting, to try and slog sweep. Hales tries to do exactly that. But could not quite clear the long boundary at mid-wicket. Hilton Cartwright, with hands like buckets, takes it calmly. Hales goes for 46 but the way he started, he should have been into the 60s at this stage. 80 more needed from 47 balls.

Billy Stanlake to Callum Ferguson, FOUR! Silky touch. Full and wide outside off, Ferguson just steers it past the keeper to the third man fence!

Hilton Cartwright to Alex Hales, SIX! Beautiful strike. Always feel that the first ball after the Drinks break would give. A length ball, outside off, slower one, Hales picks it and deposits it over long off. 96 more needed from 59 balls.

Liam Hatcher to Alex Hales, SIX! ADMONISHED! There goes Hales. Fractionally short, outside off, Hales rocks back and pulls it high and handsome over mid-wicket. Disappointing Aussie fielding, dropped in the crowd. That was a massive hit.

Clint Hinchliffe to Callum Ferguson, FOUR! That is well played. A long hop to end the over. Ferguson picks it in a trice and pulls it over mid-wicket. He has started briskly here.

Dilbar Hussain to Usman Khawaja, OUT! Adjudged caught behind! Khawaja looks pretty unhappy. No reviews in the BBL! A length ball, outside off, Khawaja gets across, looks to paddle but mistimes it badly. Now, the ball goes to the keeper, the Stars appeal and up goes the umpire's finger! Looking at the replays, it seems like the ball brushed his pad but missed his bat. Too close to say. Big wicket though.

Billy Stanlake to Alex Hales, FOUR! Save your legs, Alex. A length ball, down the leg side, Hales just whips it behind square leg. Fine leg is up.

Billy Stanlake to Usman Khawaja, FOUR! What a response from Khawaja. Full and outside off, this time Usman stays his ground and lofts it over mid off.

Glenn Maxwell to Alex Hales, FOUR! That is a drag down. Short and around middle, Hales rocks back and pulls it through mid-wicket. End of a dramatic openig over.

Glenn Maxwell to Alex Hales, OUT, CAUGHT, NO, FOUR! But what an effort! Hilton Cartwright, take a bow. Full and around middle, Hales gets down and slogs it. He does not quite middle it and would have been caught at the mid-wicket boundary, had Cartwright stayed at the ropes. But he is a good couple of yards in, hence has to run back. He leaps, catches it with his left hand, but then realizes that he is going to land on the ropes. He flicks it back but unfortunately for him, it hits his left boot and bounces back into the ropes! Tough luck.
