Mohammad Yousuf resigns as Pakistan selector ahead of England series

Ever since Yusuf’s appointment the Men in Green got knocked out in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and lost the Test series 0-2 to Bangladesh

Mohammad Yousuf, the former Pakistan batter, resigned from his post as the selector of the Pakistan cricket team on September 29 (Sunday), citing personal reasons to take the decision. He made the announcement through a post on the social media platform X.

The 50-year-old, who represented Pakistan in 90 Tests and 288 T20Is along with three T20Is, was appointed as Pakistan’s selector in March 2024. However, ever since his appointment to the role the Men in Green got knocked out in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, lost the Test series 0-2 to Bangladesh and have not been in the best of their form.

Despite Pakistan’s worst-ever performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, Yousuf was retained. He has now removed himself from the position only after selecting the team for the Test series against England, which is scheduled to start on October 7.

The Punjab-born, who scored more than 17,000 international runs, had been involved with Pakistan’s Under-19 and A teams before he was made the selector of Pakistan’s senior team.
