Hardik Pandya will miss India’s next two fixtures of the 2023 World Cup against Sri Lanka (November 2) and South Africa (November 5), ESPNcricinfo reported on Wednesday (November 1).
The ace all-rounder still hasn’t recovered from his ankle injury, and the team management is in no mood to rush him back.
While bowling against Bangladesh in Pune, the 30-year-old twisted his ankle while trying to stop a shot with his right foot and sustained a ligament injury.
Pandya is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
In his absence, India decided to bolster both departments by adding Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami to the playing XI against New Zealand and England.
The latter has surely made his presence felt, picking up nine wickets in those two games, while SKY also played a handy knock of 49 against England.
The Men in Blue have won all their six encounters and are currently leading the points table. Their last league game is against the Netherlands in Bengaluru on November 12.
