New Zealand batter Will Young became the first overseas batter since Andrew Flintoff in 2006 to score twin fifties in a Test at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Young got to the milestone in the third Test of the series against India.
He scored a patient 51 off 100 deliveries in the second innings to go with his 71 off 138 in the first to give New Zealand a chance in the third Test. This was also his ninth Test fifty; he is yet to hit a hundred in the format.
Flintoff had scored exactly 50 in both innings and also picked up four wickets in the match to lead his side to a comprehensive victory, back in 2006.
Young ends the series as New Zealand's second-highest run-getter with 244 runs at 48.80. Only Rachin Ravindra with 256 at 51.20 has scored more.
New Zealand already have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. They are the first team to beat India in a Test series in India in 12 years. The Tom Latham-led side won the first Test in Bengaluru by eight wickets and followed that up with a 113-run victory in Pune.
A win in Mumbai will see them become the first team to whitewash India at home since 2000.
