Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib has been slapped with a 15% fine for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20 International (T20I) agianst Zimbabwe in Harare. Naib breached "Article 2.8 of ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match,” the ICC stated in a media release.
The incident occurred in the 11th over of the Zimbabwe innings when a leg-before decision against Tashinga Musekiwa was turned down by the umpire. The umpires noted that Naib was "bowing down for a mock prayer and appealed for a review when DRS was not available in the match."
Moreover, one demerit point has been added to his record, his first offence in a 24-month period. Naib accepted the sanction, and as a result, there was no need for a formal hearing.
The two-match T20I series is currently level at 1-1. Zimbabwe won the first match by four wickets, but Afghanistan bounced back in the second game to claim a 50-run victory.
The series decider will be played on December 14 (Saturday).
