Game two of the inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) was a rain-curtailed one as incessant rains reduced the clash between East Delhi Riders and Central Delhi Kings to a 10-over contest.
It was Central Delhi who batted first in the shortened game, and they produced a horror showing with the bat, getting bowled out for 61 in 8.1 overs. Skipper Yash Dhull (13 off 5) and Jonty Sidhu (15 off 9) showed some spark, but every other batter faltered for the Kings.
From 48/2, they collapsed to 61 all-out, with fast bowlers Himanshu Chauhan (3/15) and Simarjeet Singh (2/8) picking five wickets between them.
In response, needing 62 to win off 60 balls, the East Delhi Riders needed just 25 balls to knock off the target. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Anuj Rawat shone, hammering 25 off just 12 balls. As did skipper Himmat Singh at the other end, who pummeled 31 off 13 balls.
