23-year-old Priyansh Arya, who made his debut for Delhi in the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), has gone into the record books as on August 31 (Saturday), he smashed six sixes in an over in the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
Priyansh, who plays for the South Delhi Superstarz side led by Ayush Badoni, achieved the feat in the 12th over of the contest against North Delhi Strikers, mercilessly hammering left-arm spinner Manan Bhardwaj. Having already conceded 24 runs off his first over, Bhardwaj’s figures read 0/60 in 2 at the end of the 12th over of South Delhi’s innings.
What was remarkable about the onslaught was that all six sixes were hit straight — either over long-on or long-off.
The left-handed Priyansh used his feet for two sixes but held his ground and brutalised the ball for the other four hits.
The southpaw brought up his ton in the 15th over of the innings. It was his second ton of the season, having already posted 107* off 55 in the clash against Purani Dilli 6.
Arya’s partner at the other end, Ayush Badoni, also struck a ton.
At the time of writing this, Priyansh is the highest run-getter in DPL 2024, with over 450 runs to his name.
