Watch Highlights: West Indies vs South Africa, 2nd T20I, Trinidad

An all-round performance from the West Indies helped them defeat South Africa by 30 runs in the second T20I on August 25 (Sunday) and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series at the Brian Lara Stadium.

Asked to bat first, Alick Athanaze (21-ball 28) and Shai Hope (22-ball 41) put on 41 runs for the opening wicket and gave the West Indies a steady start on a tricky surface. 

Lizaad Williams did pick up three wickets but Rovman Powell’s 22-ball 35 and Sherfane Rutherford’s 18-ball 29 took the West Indies to 179/6.

In reply, Reeza Hendricks hammered 44 off 18 deliveries, while Ryan Rickelton (13-ball 20) and Aiden Markram (9-ball 19) played fiery cameos to take South Africa to 71/2 in six overs. 

However, that’s when Romario Shepherd (3/15) and Shamar Joseph (3/31) picked up six wickets between them and bundled South Africa out for 149. The Proteas lost their last six wickets for just 20 runs.
