Follow UsOn August 18 (Sunday), Delhi Premier League produced yet another thriller as the West Delhi Lions inched past the North Delhi Strikers by a close margin of just three wickets.
Akhil Chaudhary set the tone for the Lions with figures of 4/20, including the scalps of Siddhant Sharma (6 off 3) and Pranav Rajvanshi (1 off 3) in the 19th over of the first innings.
If not for the 74-run partnership between Yash Bhatia and Vaibhav Rawal, things could have turned out to be uglier for the Strikers, as they reeled at 50/3 after seven overs. Eventually, they ended up with 144 runs on the board after their 20 overs.
The Lions got off to a racing start in the run chase, with Ankit Kumar’s 15-ball 39 giving them the much-needed impetus at the top of the order. While they slipped into a tricky position at 76/3, their impact player Ekansh Dobal (27 off 24) and Dev Lakra (13 off 22) put on a solid partnership, scoring 38 off 36 runs.
Despite late hiccups, the score was too low for the Strikers to defend, as the Lions won the contest by three wickets.
