Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters have continued their ruthless dominance in the ongoing Maharaja Trophy, going past Mangaluru Dragons by six runs in the 16th match of the tournament at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After a timid batting display in the powerplay, in which Bengaluru could only muster 34 runs, they were rescued by the duo of Suraj Ahuja and Kranthi Kumar in the middle order and reached 144. Abhilash Shetty and MB Darshan were the primary wreckers-in-chief for Mangaluru, scalping four wickets each.
Chasing 145, Mangaluru lost opener Macneil Hadley Noronha for a golden duck and Roshan Patil for 5 before Nikin Jose provided some sort of stability. However, in front of the disciplined performance of Santok Singh and Lavish Kaushal - they could only do so much.
Eventually, the Dragons were shut down for 138, losing by six runs. This was Mangalore's third defeat in five matches, putting them in fifth place on the points table.
