On August 17 (Sunday), the Hubli Tigers continued their winning streak in the 2024 Maharaja Trophy with a six-wicket victory over Gulbarga Mystics, all thanks to KL Shrijith’s half-century.
Earlier in the day, Devdutt Padikkal started off in bright fashion for the Mystics, scoring 46 off 29 balls before KC Cariappa broke the opening partnership, with the score reading 81. From thereon, the Mystics never took off, eventually only scoring 158 despite being in such a comfortable position.
With the ball, it was a field day for both LR Kumar and Cariappa, who finished with figures of 3/34 and 2/22, respectively.
For the Tigers, first, it was Shrijith who amassed a half-century before Aneeshwar Gautam and Karthikeya KP put together 59 off 35 balls to take them home comfortably in 18.3 overs, handing the Mystics their second loss of the season. Barring Vyshak Vijaykumar, who finished with figures of 2/22, their bowlers failed to seize the opportunities.
