On August 19 (Monday), Central Delhi Kings succumbed to their second defeat in a row in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20 competition being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. They lost to the North Delhi strikers by seven wickets and as a result, sit at the bottom of the points table.
Vaibhav Kandpal of the Strikers turned out to be the hero with his 35-ball 60 as they chased down a target of 176 with much ease, getting there in only 18.1 overs. Apart from Kandpal, Yash Dbas scored 33-ball 56, while Yash Bhatia made an unbeaten 34 to get the team over the line.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Kings started well, putting on 31 for the first wicket in 4.2 overs before Hiten Dalal became Suyash Sharma’s first scalp. Skipper Yash Dhull could only make 11. However, opener Dhruv Kaushik (65) and experienced player Jonty Sidhu (42) added 59 for the third wicket to take the Central Delhi side to a more than competitive score of 175/5.
This was the second game for both teams. While the North Delhi side managed to get over the loss in their first game, Central are yet to get off the mark. On the double-header day on August 20 (Tuesday), Purani Dilli will take on East Delhi Riders in the first game. Central Delhi side will be in action for the third day in a row as they will take on South Delhi Superstars.
