Watch: Fan breaks security, invades pitch in attempt to reach Kohli during Ranji Trophy match

The incident took place in the 12th over of the Railways innings at the Feroz Shah Kotla pitch of the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi

Right in the mix of a celebratory mood at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, where Virat Kohli was playing his first Ranji Trophy match in 12 years, a fan of the great Indian batter breached the security and invaded the pitch to try and reach the player.

Kohli on his part remained calm and composed and let the security personnel do their job who escorted the invader out of the Feroz Shah Kotla pitch on January 30 (Thursday).

The incident took place in the 12th over of the Railways innings who were asked to bat first. Money Grewal, the Delhi bowler in the attack, was called for a no-ball on what could have been a wicket for him. It was after that delivery that the fan invaded the pitch in a futile attempt to reach Kohli.

Earlier, a queue of up to 2 km had to be formed as increased volumes of fans poured into the stadium to witness Kohli play his first Ranji game in 12 years. The entry to the stadium is free and requires fans to just bring their Aadhar card and a copy of it to get a seat.
