Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma should go back to the drawing board: Brett Lee

Two of India's most prolific batters have been struggling for form of late

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been short on runs of late. They will be under tremendous pressure to make a significant contribution with the bat at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), which gets underway in less than 10 days' time.

Former Australia pacer Brett Lee has urged the duo to get back to the drawing board and work on their techniques. “The pressure puts you down when you fail to score in a few games. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should go back to the drawing board,” he said.

“Take a break from cricket and work on your technique, and freshen up before hitting the ground. I am sure that Australia seamers will attack Rohit with the new ball."

Both Kohli and Rohit had a poor series against New Zealand, in which India were whitewashed 3-0 at home. Rohit managed just 91 in six innings, while Kohli hit just 93. Lee believes that they are much better than those numbers depict. “They scored 90 runs each in the New Zealand series. They are way better batters than that.

“I have seen him over the years, and I don’t think that there is some technical problem. His only concern is that he is trying to be over-aggressive, and that led to his downfall in the games against Bangladesh and New Zealand. I still believe he is one of the best in the world.

“There were a couple of shots he could have avoided." The first Test in Perth is set to begin on November 22.
