It has been quite a few days for Mayank Agarwal, who notched up a 45-ball 100 against Arunachal Pradesh, to follow his heroic 139* against Punjab. While he had to play a captain’s knock in the clash against Punjab, where the conditions were tough for the batters, he was at his blazing best in the clash against Arunachal Pradesh.
After inserting Arunachal Pradesh into batting first, Karnataka’s Koushik V ran through their batting order with figures of 4/30. Hardik Raj quashed any comeback with four wickets to restrict Arunachal to 166. With an eye on net run-rate, Mayank put on a dazzling display, smashing the bowlers all over at the Narendra Modi Stadium A in Ahmedabad.
The right-handed opener smashed seven fours and seven sixes, spraying all over the ground, taking the attack to Tnr Mohit, against whom he hit four sixes. Mayank only faced six dot balls in the innings, jumping out of the box with an all-out attack approach opening alongside Abhinav Manohar (41-ball 66).
Against Punjab, Mayank’s 139* had it all, including putting on a 51-run 10th wicket partnership, which took them over the line in a thrilling contest, that helped Karnataka maintain their place on the points table.
Mayank has 304 runs in the season, including two centuries, after going unsold at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. But there’s a strong chance that the 33-year-old’s current form could catapult him back in case of any injury.
