Gujarat’s Urvil Patel, who went unsold in the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction, has slammed two record-breaking T20 centuries in the space of three games in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The wicketkeeping-batter, on November 27, smashed the fastest T20 century by an Indian batter and the second-fastest overall in T20 history. Urvil smoked a hundred off just 28 deliveries against Tripura, eventually finishing with a score of 113* off 35 deliveries, studded with seven fours and 12 maximums.
A week later now, the 26-year-old has hit a hundred off 36 deliveries - the fourth-fastest by an Indian batter. Urvil hammered 115* off 41 deliveries against Uttarakhand in Indore, smashing eight fours and 11 sixes.
Thanks to his blistering knock, Gujarat chased down the 183-run target in just 13.1 overs and with eight wickets to spare. With this win, Gujarat have climbed to the top of the Group B points table.
Urvil, who was earlier part of the Gujarat Titans' set-up, has 282 runs in five games in the SMAT 2024. He has operated at an average of 94 and a strike rate of 229.27, hitting 20 fours and 25 sixes. No other batter has scored more sixes than Urvil in the ongoing competition.
