The Hundred Women's 2024 week 1 stars

Alice Capsey

While the Men’s Hundred saw players struggle to reach the fifty-run mark, Englishwoman Alice Capsey, playing for the Oval Invincibles Women, hit back-to-back half-centuries against the Birmingham Phoenix and Welsh Fire, helping her team win both games. Thanks to her, they are currently at the top of the table.

Amanda-Jade Wellington

It is not only because of Capsey, but Amanda Jade Wellington, the Kiwi bowler playing for the Invincibles has also done great work with the white cherry in hand. She has picked up five crucial wickets in two matches, which includes three in one game against Phoenix.

Heather Knight

The old war horse Heather Knight refuses to die wondering as she is making sure that she will put every ounce of effort into getting the London Spirit to glory this year. The men from Spirit might not be performing well, but Knight is marshalling her troops alright, winning two of two and most importantly, getting to an individual fifty of her own to boost her confidence as a skipper.

Not performing to their potential

Marizanne Kapp

While most of the star performers have gotten going instantly, some like Marizanne Kapp, who is expected to do wonders with both bat and ball, have had a tough start. While she scored seven and got only one wicket in her first appearance, the South African woman improved her showing in the second game, scoring an unbeaten 26 off 19 and also taking a wicket by giving away 19 runs off her 15 balls in a winning cause.

Ellyse Perry

Perry, the skipper of the Phoenix, got out for a duck and remained wicketless in the first game as her team faced a crushing defeat at the hands of the Invincibles. She improved in the second game with a fifty, but it was in a losing cause and the game was already out of her reach by the time she got to the milestone. Perry has 65 runs in two innings at an average of 32.5 and a strike rate of 118. But, the Aussie star has been unable to strike even once with the ball.

Beth Mooney

Another Aussie who has not found it easy at all is Manchester Originals’ Mooney. She has neither scored quickly nor stayed long enough at the crease. Mooney has 43 runs to her kitty in two games at an average of 21.5 and a strike rate of 93.
