Brits scores second-slowest fifty in WT20Is (full-members) since 2018

The slowest fifty in this period belongs to Pakistan’s Sidra Ameen, who scored it off 61 deliveries against Thailand in 2022

South Africa’s Tazmin Brits, on September 16 (Monday), registered the second-slowest fifty in Women’s T20Is (full-member sides) since 2018.  The right-handed opener got to her landmark off 60 deliveries in the first T20I against Pakistan in Multan.

The slowest fifty in this period belongs to Pakistan’s Sidra Ameen, who scored it off 61 deliveries against Thailand in 2022. Brits eventually remained unbeaten off 56 off 63, finishing her innings with a strike rate of 88.89.

That, however, ended up being a match-winning knock as South Africa won the game by 10 runs to take a 1-0 in the three-match T20I series.  Apart from Brits, Marizanne Kapp (14 off 14) and Sune Luus (27 off 27) too couldn’t score freely.

Chloe Tryon did slam 15* off 7 to propel South Africa to 132/4 in their 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan could only get to 122/5 despite Aliya Riaz’s 39-ball 52* and Fatima Sana’s 24-ball 37*.

The two put on an unbeaten 75-run stand for the sixth wicket, but the game was lost once Pakistan were reduced to 47/5 in 12.4 overs.
