Taskin Ahmed breaks BPL record for best bowling figures with 7-wicket haul

Taskin broke the previous record held by Pakistan’s Mohammed Amir

Taskin Ahmed bowled his way to a record-breaking spell in match five of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 after he finished with figures of 7/19, on January 2.

Taskin, playing for Durbar Rajshahi, recorded the third-best figures in the history of T20 cricket, becoming the first Bangladeshi player to get a seven-fer in the shortest format. Colin Ackerman (7/18) of the Netherlands and Syazrul Idris (7/8) of Malaysia are the only two bowlers with better bowling figures than Taskin. No doubt, it was also the best-ever figures in the history of BPL.

Even after Taskin picked seven wickets, the opposition Dhaka Capitals managed to score 174/9, thanks to Shahadat Hossain (50) and Stephen Eskinazi (46) making useful contributions.

This spell by Taskin beat the record for previous best figures achieved in BPL. It was in the name of Pakistan’s Mohammed Amir, who bagged figures of 6/17 against Rajshahi Royals while playing for Khulna Tigers.
