It was yet another disappointing performance by Uganda with the bat, and that has seen them register the joint-lowest total in the history of T20 World Cup history. They were bundled out for just 39 in pursuit of 174 against West Indies at the Providence Stadium, Guyana on June 8 (Saturday).
Akeal Hosein led from the front with the ball and has registered the best figures for West Indies in the T20 World Cup, and sixth best in the tournament overall.
Moreover, this was only a second instance of a bowler taking a five-wicket haul by having the batters bowled or trapped leg-before after Afghanistan’s Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, who achieved the same feat against Scotland in 2021.
West Indies also went on to win the game by 134 runs, which is the highest margin of victory for them in T20 Internationals (T20I) and the second-highest in T20 World Cups after Sri Lanka, who defeated Kenya by 172 runs in 2007.
Uganda were reduced to 25/8 in inside eight overs today. Only once has a team lost eight or more wickets in a T20 World Cup before this. It was Afghanistan who suffered the same feat against South Africa in 2010 in Barbados.
