Sri Lanka suffered yet another blow before the start of the India series, with pacer Nuwan Thushara now ruled out of the three-match T20I series against India. Thushara broke a finger in his left hand during training late on July 24 (Wednesday).Â
ESPNCricinfo reported that Sri Lanka’s team manager, Mahinda Halangoda, confirmed that Thushara won’t be part of the T20I series after injuring himself during a fielding practice. It is the second casualty for the Lankans, after Dushmantha Chameera was ruled out of the series with illness.Â
🚨 Nuwan Thushara will not take part in the T20I series, as the player suffered an injury to his left thumb while fielding during practices last night.

Sri Lanka Cricket, through social media platform X, confirmed that Dilshan Madushanka as the replacement for the injured pacer. Thushara has been the in-form bowler for the Lankans, with eight wickets in three World Cup games earlier this year. But at the recently concluded Lanka Premier League, the slingy pacer wasn’t as effective with just eight wickets, averaging 30.Â
Sri Lanka set to kick off their new era in T20Is under Charith Asalanka's captaincy with the first T20I against India on Saturday (July 27).Â
