SunRisers Hyderabad’s bowling coach Dale Steyn has requested a break from the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, Cricbuzz reported on Saturday (March 2).
The former South Africa pacer has already informed the management and the franchise have already started looking for his replacement.
The onus is now on head coach Daniel Vettori to look for his replacement. Steyn, who became SRH’s bowling coach in 2022, is likely to return next year.
Meanwhile, there is also a possibility of Pat Cummins being appointed as SRH’s new captain. The right-arm seamer, who was bought for INR 20.5 crore, led Australia to the ODI World Cup and World Test Championship last year, both by beating India.
Aiden Markram led Hyderabad last year but the Orange Army could win only four of their 14 games and finished last on the points table.
