Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Wednesday (August 28) that the South African women’s cricket team will tour Pakistan for a three-match T20 international series beginning September 16. All the matches will be held at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.
The first two matches will be played in the evening, starting at 7 pm Pakistan Standard Time, while the final game on a Friday (September 20) will be a day affair, starting at 10 am local time.
“The Proteas Women will arrive in the city in Punjab on September 13,” said a press release by CSA.
With the end of the Pakistan tour, the Proteas women will depart for the UAE on September 21 and continue their preparations ahead of the start of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 on October 3. They play their first game of the tournament against the West Indies on Friday (October 4) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
South Africa, the runners-up from the last World Cup, is in group B alongside West Indies, England, Scotland, and Bangladesh. They will also play two warm-up games against New Zealand and India in Dubai on September 29 and October 1, respectively.
Commenting on scheduling the tour to Pakistan, which will be the second one for Proteas Women in a gap of only a year, CSA Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe called it a critical part of the team’s preparations for the T20 World Cup.
“It offers the team the invaluable opportunity to gain match practice, allowing us to refine our strategies and ensure our players are in peak form. We are incredibly grateful to the PCB for their collaboration and efforts in arranging this series,” he added.
