Sikandar Raza joins Shakib, Nabi & others in elite list

Raza is one of five players to complete the 2,000 runs & 50 wickets double in T20Is

On July 13 (Saturday), Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza scripted history in the fourth T20I against India as he became the first Zimbabwe player in history to score 2,000 T20I runs.

Raza entered the game today already as the country’s highest run-getter, with 1,983 runs to his name. He brought up the milestone of 2,000 runs in the 13th over of the first innings with a single off Abhishek Sharma.

By getting to the landmark, Raza joined a very elite list — that of scoring 2,000+ runs & picking 50+ runs in T20Is.

It’s a feat that only four others have managed since the format’s inception: Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and Malaysia’s Virandeep Singh

Raza, notably, has 65 T20I wickets to his name. He is, in fact, also the joint second-highest wicket-taker for Zimbabwe in T20I cricket. Only Luke Jongwe (66) has picked more T20I wickets for Zimbabwe than the 38-year-old.
