Shreyas Iyer, playing for India D in the Duleep Trophy 2024, got out for a duck on Day 1 of their clash against India B at Anantapur on September 19 (Thursday). This was his second duck in the ongoing competition. The skipper of the India D had also got out for a duck in his last game at the same venue against India A after being ignored by the selectors for the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
Across his last five innings, Iyer's scores in the red-ball format read 9, 54, 0, 41 and 0. His team, which has lost both their matches in the series, is struggling in the third game as well. At the time of writing this copy, they were 179/4 with Sanju Samson and Ricky Bhui at the crease. Devdutt Padikkal and KS Bharath, opening for the India D, scored half centuries while Nishant Sindhu made 19.
Iyer, who batted only five balls, was caught by Nitish Kumar Reddy off the bowling of Vyshak Vijaykumar.
