Shreyanka, Ishaque picked for England T20Is

The Women’s Selection Committee has picked the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against England, starting December 6. India Women are also scheduled to play a Test each against England and Australia, with Harmanpreet Kaur leading the side.

It's been more than two years since India played a Test match.

The spin-bowling all-rounder from Bangalore, Shreyanka Patil has been named in the T20I squad. The 21-year-old, who also featured in the Caribbean Premier League earlier this year, scalped six wickets in the first edition of the Women's Premier League. 

Left-arm spinners Mannat Kashyap and Saika Ishaque are the other ones who are yet to play for India. The latter was the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the 2023 WPL, claiming 15 wickets at an average of 16.3. Ishaque has also been picked in the Test squad.

All-rounder Shubha Satheesh is the only other newbie in the red-ball set-up.

The Test against England in Navi Mumbai will start on December 14 before the action shifts to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where India will play a Test against Australia. That will get underway from December 21. 

India are also scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Australia but the squad for the white-ball series will be announced later.
