Shakib Al Hasan reported for suspect action during Surrey stint

The left-arm spinner represented Surrey in the clash against Somerset

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been reported for a suspect action after being reported by the umpire during the clash between Surrey and Somerset in the County Championship. The all-rounder has been asked to undergo an analysis of his bowling action.

The 37-year-old all-rounder scalped nine wickets during his appearance in the one-off clash for Surrey, which was also his first appearance in the competition since 2010-11 when he appeared for Worcestershire.

However, his nine wickets were not enough for Surrey, as Archie Vaughan’s all-round abilities led Somerset to a 111-run win in that clash. Interestingly, however, the on-field umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and David Millns didn’t suspect his action then.

Later, the on-field umpires reported the veteran bowler for a suspect action. Funnily enough, it is the first time that the left-arm spinner has been reported for suspect action in a career that has spanned 447 international matches.

Off the field, Shakib’s life has been in turmoil with protests against him in Mirpur, which prevented him from appearing in the two-match Test series against South Africa, which was supposed to be his final act in the red-ball format. Have we seen the last of Shakib in Bangladesh whites? Your guess is as good as mine.
