Bangladesh’s premier all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, who has already announced his retirement from Tests and T20Is, is now in doubt about of playing in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in UAE from November 6.
"How I can tell, BCB should tell about it," was the reply of Shakib as quoted by Cricbuzz to a question about his presence for the upcoming series.
Shakib, who last played for the national team in the Kanpur Test against India in early October, had expressed his desire to play his final Test in his home country. He was named in the squad to face South Africa in the first of the two Tests at Dhaka.
Before the man with 14,730 runs and 702 wickets, the only player in history with a double of 14,000 runs and 700 wickets in international cricket, could land in Dhaka, protests erupted against him.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided not to secure his visit back home, and therefore, the cricketer returned from Dubai back to his home in the USA.
After the end of the Test series, the Bangladesh team will travel to UAE and play against Afghanistan in three ODIs, all to be played at a single venue, which has yet not been decided.
