Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam top latest ODI rankings

Meanwhile, the Afghans made big gains in the ODI allrounder rankings

Pakistan reaped the rewards of a solid showing Down Under in the recent ICC ODI rankings, where they won the three-match ODI series 2-1.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, who picked eight wickets at an average of 12.62 in three innings, reached the top of the table, leapfrogging Kuldeep Yadav, Rashid Khan, and Keshav Maharaj in the process. Afridi had reached the top of the ODI bowling charts only once before this, which lasted for a short while during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam continued his reign at the top of the ODI batting rankings after scoring 70 runs in three innings in the series. He has the three Indians behind him, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli.

Haris Rauf, who bagged 10 wickets in the series and peppered the Australian batters with his pace and bounce, moved 14 places and reached the 13th spot on the bowling rankings.

Along with the gains from the Australian-Pakistan ODI series, the Afghan all-rounders also benefitted from their superb performance in the recently completed ODI series against Bangladesh, which they won 2-1.

Azmatullah Omarzai, who was Player of the Match in the decider game for his four wickets and an unbeaten half-century in the chase, climbed two spots and reached the 9th spot. Mohammad Nabi, who was the Player of the Series against Bangladesh, maintained his top position on the table. With Rashid Khan already at third, there are currently three all-rounders from Afghanistan amongst the Top 10.
