Sai Sudharsan has undergone surgery for a sports hernia in London and will now miss the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, which begins on December 21. The left-handed batter was earlier part of India A's setup Down Under before he travelled back to the country.
The 23-year-old could only play one Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) game against Tripura before heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Sudharsan also thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Gujarat Titans for their unwavering support.
“Will be back stronger in no time. A big thank you to the medical team and BCCI for their efforts and support. Thank you, Titans family, for your love and support,” tweeted Sudharsan on X.
While there’s no clarity over the injury, it is rumoured that it was an injury that has been nagging the left-hander for some time now. Sudharsan was within touching distance of making it to the Test team, but the call-up then went to Devdutt Padikkal, who played the Perth Test.
